Sierra Simpson's Hyperbaric Experience

Meet Sierra Simpson, one of our first recipients of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. Sierra was the only survivor of a triplet pregnancy and was born with some disabilities, including Microcephaly and Encephalopathy, Tics with Autism. She has great parents that have tried a number of different treatments to help her out. Her mother Megan was interested to see if Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy could help her out. Not knowing if we could help her out, Megan decided that if we could improve her life in any way it's worth a try.

Sierra came in with her mother in January of 2018 for her first treatment. When we first met Megan she had a frequent tic causing her to grunt very loudly and frequently. Almost instantly after we put her in the Hyperbaric Chamber, we noticed that her grunts stopped. This was very interesting to see. She did just fine in her session with a little coaxing she stayed in for an hour. After she got out her grunting was less severe and less frequent.

We continued treatments with her ranging between 60-90 minutes in the chamber 2-3 times a week. It seemed that we had the best results when treatments were back to back.

Sierra's mom reported that Sierra showed some great improvements. Her teachers noticed a huge change in her attitude and her abilities especially following instructions and listening.

Her speech became more clear and understandable and she was communicating much better to the point where her grandparents noticed a huge difference and for the first time really were able to communicate.

Sierra, was able to get a much improved quality of sleep as her CPAP machine readings showed that she wasn't waking up as much during the night.

After a few weeks she was definitely a different person and her personality was showing through. She was more conversational and less distracted. Her sense of humor was more prevalent and she was making jokes during her sessions.

The Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy exceeded our expectations and at times seemed almost too good to be true, but it was definitely true.

We are so excited for Sierra and are glad that we have been able to make a difference in her life and the lives of her family, friends, and teachers. We loved seeing the smile on the face of Sierra's mother!
